What if age ceased to be a threshold to become a lever?

By combining societal analysis and scientific research, this platform offers a renewed reading of ageing from age 45 onwards.

It is based on a central conviction: ageing is not solely a biological or functional phenomenon.

It is also shaped by social representations, cultural norms and age-related injunctions, which can influence not only quality of life and relationships, but also health behaviours, access to prevention and, ultimately, health trajectories.

It is on this basis that the platform is structured around two complementary approaches, designed and developed jointly.

From social perceptions to individual trajectories

On the one hand, the Age & Society Observatory studies how our society perceives and frames ageing. Through a study conducted with Ipsos BVA, it highlights often pessimistic or injunctive representations, which influence behaviours long before entry into the 'senior' age group: relationship to health, use of prevention, physical activity or confidence in self-care.

These mechanisms, close to ordinary ageism, have a real impact on individual trajectories.

In parallel, the MIPAG (Multidisciplinary International Positive Ageing Group) is a collective of health professionals expert in their disciplines to scientifically analyse agility and frailty with age.

Their work makes it possible to objectify these concepts and identify prevention levers based on current knowledge, incorporating psychosocial, environmental and behavioural dimensions that influence functional health.

These two perspectives complement and strengthen each other,

one illuminates the cultural and social framework in which we age, the other provides scientific benchmarks for informed action.
